What is broadband telephony?
Broadband telephony saves you money!
- This is common knowledge, but how does it work?
Broadband telephony is also known as IP telephony, VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol), and Internet telephony. By using your existing broadband connection, broadband telephony can offer you phone services without the traditional cost per second. Apart from being the most affordable, broadband telephony is the fastest growing form of telephony in Norway today.
With IP telephony from Telio you make and receive calls using an ordinary analog telephone. The only difference is that your calls are made over your broadband connection, and not over the physical phone line. As a Telio customer you receive an adapter, which needs to be connected to you ADSL modem. Telio does not supply the broadband connection, but we can deliver phone services no matter which broadband provider you subscribe to.
By utilizing the broadband service you already pay for, you can save a substantial amount of money. Your computer does not have to be turned on, and you may keep your existing phone number. If you do not have a landline phone service already, you will receive a new phone number from us, without additional costs.

Getting started is easy!
First you need to choose the Telio subscription best suited to your personal needs. If most of your calls are national, Telio Micro will be the right subscription for you. Telio Micro has a fixed monthly rate of only 59, - NOK, and you pay 0, - NOK per minute to all fixed line phones in Norway (this includes both broadband telephony and traditional landlines). This subscription also offers you reduced rates per minute on calls to mobile phones and international numbers.
If you like to talk for hours, and make international calls regularly, you should sign up for Telio Mini. This subscription charges a monthly rate of 159, - NOK, and allows you to call all fixed line phones in Norway and over 100 other countries for 0, - NOK per minute. You also get reduced rates on calls to mobile phones. This subscription is perfect if you have friends and family abroad.
Our service is just as reliable as a traditional landline service. Connecting the Telio adapter is considered easy by most of our customers, 86% managed to do it themselves without seeking assistance.
