Data Roaming Cost Control

Protects you from high data roaming costs when you are abroad

Telio’s Data Roaming Cost Control service protects you from unexpectedly high mobile phone bills when you use data roaming services abroad. Data Roaming Cost Control applies to all countries outside Norway, but since the cut-off limit for data roaming services is based on data volume, the cost will vary depending on your location. Within EU/EEA the cost will never exceed NOK 500,- per month, unless you choose to opt out of this service and allow unlimited use.

How does Data Roaming Cost Control work?
You do not have to activate this service; it is activated automatically when you use data roaming services abroad. When you approach the cut-off limit of approximately 12 MB per month, you will receive an SMS alert (two messages). If you continue to use data roaming services until you reach the 12 MB limit, your mobile subscription will automatically be blocked for further use of data roaming services, and you will receive another SMS alert (two messages).

The SMS alerts give you information on how to opt out of the service and cancel the cut-off limit, either for the present month or permanently. If no action is taken on your part, your subscription will be blocked for all use of data roaming services abroad for the remainder of your monthly billing cycle.

Cancel the cut-off limit for the present month

You can cancel the cut-off limit and allow for unlimited use of data roaming services until the end of the present month. All you need to do is send an SMS with the code word ÅPNE KONTROLL (or APNE KONTROLL) to 26126. You will receive confirmation by SMS once the code word has been registered.

Data Roaming Cost Control will automatically be reactivated when your next monthly billing cycle begins.

Cancel Data Roaming Cost Control permanently
If you want to cancel the cut-off limit on use of data roaming services permanently, you can easily opt out of the Data Roaming Cost Control service by sending an SMS with the codeword STOPP KONTROLL to 26126. You will receive confirmation by SMS once the code word has been registered.

The service will be cancelled permanently, and will NOT be activated again at the beginning of the next monthly billing cycle.

Please note! The SMS messages must be sent from the mobile phone number your subscription is registered to. You can only cancel the cut-off limit if you have already used data roaming services in Norway or abroad. If you have not used data roaming services, your subscription has not yet been registered with the service.

Consider the risks before you cancel Data Roaming Cost Control
If you cancel Data Roaming Cost Control, either for the present month or permanently, you are no longer protected against high data roaming costs when you are abroad. You have removed the security mechanisms that protect you from high, unexpected costs, and you risk getting an unpleasant surprise when your next mobile phone bill arrives.

Remember to always use caution when you use data roaming services abroad. High consumption of data roaming services abroad is still expensive, even with Data Roaming Cost Control.
